Since November 2015, we have been offering a homestay at our place, which was newly renovated in May 2024. Why not stay with us and recover from your jet lag before we start your tour?
We are a family of four and live in a small house outside of Negombo, in a tropical environment just a few minutes from the airport. Staying with us gives you the chance to experience a non‑touristy homestay in Sri Lanka and see how Lankans really live.
Food plays a central role in our culture, and if you like, we can organize a small Sri Lankan cooking class for you.
The beaches are only a few minutes away from our homestay. You can easily reach them with the bicycles we provide free of charge. If you are interested, you can also explore the nearby villages with us – or of course on your own.

Alex Rose26 December 2025We have just finished our second trip with chauffeur Sri Lankan and we can’t thank Hiran and Nilu enough for making our trip so special. They always make every trip so much fun and take amazing care of us. On this trip we had an issue at one hotel and Hiran was so accommodating to us completely changing our itinerary and making sure we felt safe and taken care of at all times. This was quite a stressful day and we were so glad we had Hiran and Nilu there to help and get our holiday back on track. We didn’t get to stay at there home stay this time (we stayed before in 2019) but really look forward to returning to Sri Lanka to stay with them soon, the home stay is always spotlessly clean and we loved meeting the whole family and trying the amazing home cooked food. 100% recommend chauffeur Sri Lanka to anyone travellingPosted on Tripadvisor

erica s20 January 2025unforgettable trip it was an unforgettable trip through sir lanka. we still like to think about it today. especially the stay with Hiran in his homestay was wonderful. We were able to choose the hotels ourselves and were able to change our plans during the trip. We really enjoyed the mixture of culture and nature. It was a very special experience for us to spend almost 3 weeks with Indra, our driver, who was like a friend to us. The hosts went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect, making me feel right at home. The rooms were impeccably clean, tastefully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. Every night I slept soundly, and waking up to the beautiful view was such a delight. The attention to detail in the room, from the cozy linens to the little personal touches, truly made my stay exceptional. The highlight of my stay was definitely the food. We had a warm welcome and both are so lovely and they pampared us so much with delicous food. Also the first email contact was so lovely. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly hosts and immediately felt at home. The house is beautifully situated, surrounded by lush greenery and a breathtaking landscape that invites you to relax. Hiran showed us around his beautiful garden and the plantation that adjoins the garden. The rooms were spotlessly clean, lovingly furnished and equipped with all the necessary amenities. I was particularly impressed by the cosy atmosphere that the homestay exudes - it's the perfect place to get away from it all and relax. Another highlight was the delicious food that was served to us every day. Nilusha prepared traditional Sri Lankan dishes that were not only delicious but also authentic. You could really taste the love and care that was put into every dish. The hosts always endeavoured to make our stay as pleasant as possible. They provided us with tips and recommendations, helped us organise excursions and gave us valuable insights into the culture and history of Sri Lanka. All in all, our stay at Hiran and Nilusha's homestay was an unforgettable experience. The warm hospitality, the excellent food and the beautiful surroundings made our holiday something very special. Marina K19 July 2023HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! If you would like to enjoy the most comfortable, matching all your needs tour you should hire a private driver. It is my second tour with Hiran and now I can say he is not only an excellent guide but a good friend. Hiran started to help me organize tours even before I decided where to go. He offered me several packages in different areas of Sri Lanka and recommended hotels which was a great help making great travel plan and considering all sightseeing, my budget, location, and time to drive around the areas. Hiran is well organized, always on time, friendly, service oriented and knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour. He was also flexible to change our tour accordingly to us, suggested places to visit and where to eat or buy souvenirs. His car is well maintained, always clean and very comfortable for 2-3 people, not to mention his amazing selection of music and playlist which will always remind us about Sri Lanka . We also spent last evening at his home stay and truly enjoyed the most delicious homemade food prepared by him and his beautiful wife. I would say it was the most delicious meal we had during our whole trip, and I would recommend spending some time at his Café and home stay to recharge before or after your flight. This trip was most remarkable for me regardless of the low season. We enjoyed great company with Hiran, well organized tour, feel safe and secure at all the time. All went as planned and even better! Hiran is very friendly, service oriented, speaks english very well, drives carefully and knows his way around. He takes care of his car properly, we think he cleaned it every day. It’s a simple car, clean, enough space for two, maybe three customers with luggage (we were 2 and had 3 suitcases, worked just fine). His wife did all the communications with us before the journey, she always responded quickly. We started our journey in Negombo, where Hiran picked us up, then went to Sigiryia, Dambulla, Kandy, Yala NP, a beach near Tangalle, Unawatuna and then spent our last night at Hiran and Nilushas Homestay Living with Lankans. That was actually the nicest accommodation we’ve stayed in whole Sri Lanka and the food the two of them cooked was amazing. Hiran has a mushroom farm in his backyard and they cooked farm to table for us. Simply perfect. What made our journey with Hiran so special, were all the tips and suggestions he made, starting from enjoying a lovely lunch at a friends house who just cooked one of the best Currys we’ve had in Sri Lanka, to taking us to a local vegetable market, to telling us to take an umbrella to protect ourselves from the sun, to taking us to „instagram“ photo spots, to well guided tea factories, wood craft stores or anything else we asked for. We booked a trip with Hiran online at his website. Highly recommend his services! At first we stayed at his homestay (A/C, spacious room, very clean) in Negombo and got amazing local dinner and breakfast. Afterwards we started our tour through Sri Lanka. We first wanted Hiran to only drive us for 4 days but he is such a nice guy and good guide that we extended our trip to more than a week. He knows the island very well, showing a lot of hidden gems and local attractions not shown in guidebooks. Drives safely, with cool relaxing music and lots of stories to tell. Mop10 May 2022Best decision of the whole holiday Hiran is just the best driver!We had an outstanding vacation and he was responsible for a very big part.Hiran is just that much more than a driver, he's a tour guide, information deliverer, DJ, knower of street food, shield against tourist traps, meditation teacher, partner for discussions about both, funny and deep stuff, environment safer, etc.He always gave us great tips on what we could see and visit on our way to the next site and always wanted the best for us.He even recommded us hotels and booked them for us with better prices, always informing us if he‘d get some comission there and asking if we want to receive it instead.With him we tried and got to know the real local food and learned about the culture.Hiran was just always very friendly, happy and fun. But the most we loved was his honesty and thrustworthiness.We just enjoyed travelling with him and his hospitality was awesome. He and his wife showed us how to cook shrimp curry and sambal that was so delicious and maybe the best food we had in SriLanka. Romy L16 April 2022More hospitality isn‘t possible 💚💚💚 Our Sri Lanka trip was simply unforgettable - thanks to Hiran, his wife Nilu and our driver Kamal.We were warmly welcomed at the airport and then taken to Hiran's homestay, where we spent the first night. The homestay is furnished with love and hiran's property is simply indescribably beautiful. The garden with bar invites you to relax and linger.We made the round trip in an air-conditioned, new car. Our driver Kamal always got us to our destination safely. Even when we were in cities, he always made sure of our safety.Despite the current crisis, we have always felt comfortable. As a tourist, you are not affected by it and even more welcome by the locals. The people we met were always very friendly and courteous, never intrusive. The hotels (middle class) were incredibly beautiful and rather small. That's why every wish has been taken care of.Kamal also responded to all our wishes. During the trip he was always polite, kind and funny. He's a real gentleman.He always took us to spots that are not touristy and always gave us tips for tours.already on the way home we missed him :-)We thank Hiran and his team for this great holiday, the warmth and the funny hours and days together. Leonie K13 February 2022Reliable & friendly driver for the perfect Sri Lanka Experience We booked Hiran for 7 days to drive us around Sri Lanka. He and his wife proposed a nice Route around the country and made sure to adapt it regarding our individual wishes. Hiran was not only an experienced and reliable driver, but also a lot of fun to be around - plus, he has excellent taste of music for long or short rides as well as great photographic skills when it comes to perfect pictures! ;-) Also, make sure to stay at least one night at his environmental friendly, lovely and relaxing homestay. Surrounded by a lot of plants, he also has a Café built into it, where you get the best coffee in Sri Lanka (not lying!) and (homegrown) mushroom dishes! Sarah M20 February 2020Great home stay with fantastic local food We have booked a driver with Hiran for our one week trip through Sri Lanka (starting in Matara – Sinharaja Forest Reserve – Yale National Park – Ella – Nuwara Eliya – Kandy – Sigiriya – Negombo). We spent the last evening in Hiran‘s homestay and werde surprised with a super delicious and authentic Sri Lankan dinner, prepared by Nilusha‘s mother. The house of Nilusha and Hiran is located in a nice neighbourhood. Our room was very well equiped with a comfortable bed and a modern bathroom. Hiran picked us up from the airport, we spent some time drinking tea at the bar, had delicious dinners made by his mother in law and slept great in a clean room. Hiran could also give good advice about the rest of our trip. Very valuable. Geert H21 July 2019true Sri Lanka hospitality We have been with these people twice, at the begin of our 19-daytrip and at the end. 2 times cookworkshop and the last time just before leaving home. We were allowed to use the nice room to rest a bit, because we were leaving at 4 in the morning home.What our 3 daughters have done. After a nice evening, with singing karaoke,and very tasty food.We left home. The room is very clean and super furnished with AC and a beautiful bathroom, super friendly owners. Donna29 June 2019You gonna love this! After a long trip we arrived at Sri Lanka, We allready had contact with Hiran before and he told us he was waiting for us at the arrival lobby at the airport. Back home there was a super deluxe* dinner waiting for us made by his lovely wife and mother in law. The room is super clean and you will sleep perfect on the nice beds. We loved it so much, we didn’t wanted to go and stayed for one more night. A real good recommondation. Sheryl R27 March 2019Warm, Friendly hosts This is my second trip to Sri Lanka using Hiran and Nilusha as my local contacts but the first time staying in their Homestay. The bedroom was bright, extremely clean and spacious, lovely white sheets, comfortable bed and efficient air conditioning. There is a small dressing room with a mini bar fridge and wardrobe which leads into an ensuite bathroom with a shower. This is quite a new Homestay and Hiran is eager to improve by asking guests to add any suggestions that will potentially elevate the rooms to an even higher standard if that is at all possible. We loved how we were so warmly welcomed by Hiran, Nilusha , Madu our guide and their children , who genuinely made us feel like we were part of this wonderful family. The food that we ate that night was incredible and we loved the outdoor cooking facilities, we even had a cookery lesson from Nilushas mother. The presentation and overall dining experience at the Homestay was probably one of the best throughout our travels in Sri Lanka, and we stayed at some very high end hotels! While it is difficult to find decent wine in Sri Lanka Hiran managed to locate a few bottles for us at no extra charge. Nothing is too much trouble and Hiran will do anything to make your stay perfect. Both Nilusha and Hiran were in constant contact prior to our arrival either via email, messenger or WhatsApp. They tailored the menu and indeed our stay to suit our tastes. After a long flight from London this was a wonderful way to recharge our batteries before starting a long tour using Chauffeur Sri Lanka by Dohansa tours also run by Hiran and his team. We stayed in the Homestay on our final night, even the torrential rain didn’t dampen our mood nor did it prevent us having another superb meal. Again Hiran managed to locate some very good wine. Our breakfasts were also cooked to perfection and my partner who is french gave the family a cooking lesson in making a great omelette. We also enjoyed a tour of the grounds where we were shown how the family cultivate mushrooms to sell to restaurants. I understand from Hiran that he is hoping to complete the Homestay soon by adding further accommodation which is still a work in progress on the upper elevation of the property. We were so sad to leave this wonderful Homestay and the fantastic hospitality of our Sri Lankan family, but we will be back.
