Day 1:   NEGOMBO

After your arrival in Sri Lanka we meet at the airport and transfer you by air-conditioned vehicle to a hotel in Negombo. Rest of the day at your leisure. Dinner and overnight in Negombo.

 

Day 2:   NEGOMBO – PINNAWALA – SIGIRIYA

Today we go to Sigiriya. On the way you will have the opportunity to taste the famous King Coconut, visit a fruit plantation and finally the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, which houses the abandoned and the wounded elephants. Here you can watch them been fed and bathed. After lunch, continue to the town of Sigiriya, within Sri Lanka’s rich cultural triangle. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Sigiriya.

 

Day 3:   SIGIRIYA

In the morning we visit the rock fortress of Sigiriya – a 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky”, a UNESCO world heritage. Adorning a palace on top of this large rock it is a must see in Sri Lanka. In the afternoon we will do a village safari. Dinner and overnight stay in Sigiriya.

 

Day 4:   SIGIRIYA – POLONNARUWA – DAMBULLA – SIGIRIYA

Today we go to one of the better kept ruins of ancient Ceylon – the UNESCO World Heritage City of Polonnaruwa, which was the medieval capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th – 13th century A.D. On the way back visit one of the most unusual temples buried in a maze – the UNESCO Golden Cave Temple in Dambulla. Dinner and overnight in Sigiriya.

 

Day 5:   SIGIRIYA – TRINCOMALEE

After breakfast in the hotel, leave for Trincomalee which lies on the north east coast of the island. Check in the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Trincomalee beach.

 

Day 6:   TRINCOMALEE

Visit Pigeon Island and go for whale watching, visit the beautiful coral and ornamental fish collection. Scuba diving and more activities in Trincomalee beach. Dinner and overnight stay in Trincomalee.

 

Day 7:  TRINCOMALEE – KANDY

After breakfast we proceed to Kandy. On the way to Kandy we will visit a colourful Hindu temple in Matale. Optional and free of charge we can also go to a spice garden. In Kandy we visit the Temple of The Tooth. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Kandy.

 

Day 8:   KANDY

After breakfast visit Peradeniya Botanical garden. Then you will be getting a city tour including a round tour on foot around the Kandy lake. After that we will visit the historical museum of Kandy. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Kandy.

 

Day 9:   KANDY

After breakfast at hotel, leave for visiting the gem museum, a gem mine and wood carving factory. In the evening visit the traditional cultural Kandy dancing show. Dinner and overnight at Kandy.

 

Day 10:   KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA

Welcome to Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka’s tea growing centre. During the drive relish the endless views of tea carpeted valleys and the bright flash of female “tea pluckers” in their pimento, fuchsia and cerise saris. En-route to Nuwara Eliya visit the famous Ramboda waterfall, a tea plantation and a working tea factory. Enjoy a guided stroll of Nuwara Eliya town, pass the 18-hole golf course, the colonial member’s only Hill Club and English styled country homes. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

 

Day 11:   NUWARA ELIYA – HORTON PLAINS – NUWARA ELIYA

For a complete experience of Sri Lanka’s panoramic mountains, travel just outside the town of Nuwara Eliya to the National Park of Horton Plains. It is the perfect place for nature lovers with its rich biodiversity and stunning views. You might sight many wild animals and different species of birds enjoying the resplendent surroundings. You can also walk to the World’s End, a sheer drop of an astonishing 1’050 meters where you have a nice view. Return to Nuwara Eliya where we walk around Gregory Lake and do a city tour. Dinner and overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

 

Day 12:   NUWARA ELIYA – ELLA

Today, you can go to Ella by train. This offers you the best view of Sri Lanka’s country side. Our driver will drop you at Nuwara Eliya train station and pick you up from the train station in Ella. In Ella we will see Little Adam’s Peak, visit the Rama’s Cave or you can relax and enjoy the nice views and the nature. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Ella.

 

Day 13:   ELLA – KATARAGAMA – YALA

After breakfast leave for Yala. En route visit the kovils and take part in the Pooja at Kataragama. Kataragama is the location where Rama met Sita after her release from captivity. It is from Kataragama that Rama, Sita & Lakshman returned to India in a Chariot lent to them by Indra. Dinner and overnight stay in Yala.

 

Day 14: YALA – MIRISSA

Today you will set foot in the Yala National Park, famous for one of the highest densities of leopards in the world. Also the sloth bear and Asian elephant that are also part of Sri Lanka’s Big Five can be spotted. With some good luck you will witness all these creatures during the jeep safari accompanied by a naturalist guide. After that we continue to Mirissa where we have dinner and stay overnight.

 

Day 15: MIRISSA – GALLE – BENTOTA

After breakfast check out from hotel and drive up Sri Lanka’s west coast to Bentota. En route visit Galle fort and a turtle hatchery. In the afternoon, check in one of the popular beach resorts which are also situated in the “Golden Stretch of Beaches” in Sri Lanka. Dinner and overnight stay at a beach resort.

 

Day 16 – Day 19: BENTOTA

Beach stay with many choices of spending your time. Leisurely strolling on the golden beaches enthralled in the magical atmosphere. Lazing on a sun deck reading a book of you choice and sipping a fresh tropical fruit drink. Or water skiing, wind surfing, snorkelling, jet skiing, dolphin and whale watching, diving and much more… Dinner and overnight stay at Bentota beach hotel.

 

Day 20: BENTOTA – COLOMBO

After breakfast at the hotel, travel to Colombo. After check in the hotel you will have a Colombo city tour. Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, is the largest city and main port of Sri Lanka. It is also the commercial and financial centre of Sri Lanka. A bustling metropolis, the city is an attractive blend of old and new. It has the lazy charm of the bygone era combined with the verve and vivaciousness of a modern city. After the city tour shopping in Colombo. Dinner and overnight in Colombo.

 

Day 21: COLOMBO – AIRPORT

Transfer to the airport. End of tour.
